ELDERBERRY SYRUP

1.    What is the Elderberry Syrup ?
Our Elderberry Syrup is a nutritious superfood blend prepared as a herbal syrup, made from Black Elderberries, best known as a powerful antioxidant and immune system booster.

In 10 peer-to-peer reviewed scientific studies, elderberries have been proven to reduce the severity and duration of the common cold and flu as well as provide therapy for a number of diseases. Elderberries are rich in vitamins, minerals and polyphenols known for their anti-inflammatory abilities.

2.    What are the ingredients of the Elderberry Syrup?
Our Elderberry Syrup is made using Organic Elderberries Cloves, Ceylon Cinnamon, Ginger Root, Star Anise, Raw Honey or Organic Agave Syrup, Echinacea Purpurea & Spring Water.

3.    How much Elderberry Syrup should I take?
The suggested use for strengthening the immune system is:

  • Adults: 1-2 tablespoons daily (15-30ml) 
  • Children (over 6 or 12 months): 1 teaspoon daily (5ml)

When feeling seasonal illness, increase the recommended daily dosage to 3-4 times a day. Reduce to normal when recovered.

4.    How do I take the Elderberry Syrup
Sip it straight from a shot glass, or enjoy it with:

  • Drinks - lemonade, fruit tea, smoothie, or juice;
  • Mixed into yoghourt or oatmeal;
  • Poured atop pancakes, waffles, French toast, or ice cream.

5.    How do I store the Elderberry Syrup?
Please keep your Elderberry Syrup refrigerated at all times.

6.    How long does the Elderberry Syrup last ?
All our Elderberry Syrups will have a best before date on the bottle - this is approximately 1-2 months from when you receive it due to each bottle being made fresh by hand. If you would like to keep your Elderberry Syrup preserved for longer - up to 6 months,  please freeze in ice cubes and thaw as needed.

7.    Can I freeze the Elderberry Syrup?
It is a great idea to freeze your Elderberry Syrup in ice cubes to preserve its shelf life for up to 6 months and thaw as required.

8.    What are the benefits of the Elderberry Syrup?

9.    What makes your Elderberry Syrup different from the kind I can buy at the grocery store?
Three important factors make our handcrafted Elderberry Syrup superior to the store-bought version.

Ingredients:

We handcraft our Elderberry Syrup using simple ingredients: Organic Elderberries, Ceylon Cinnamon, Cloves, Fresh Ginger, Star Anise, Echinacea (+) Raw Unfiltered Honey or Organic Agave Syrup. Everything is 100% natural.
Store bought versions of Elderberry Syrup include glucose (sugar) syrup, fillers or thickening agents, among other additives and preservatives, thickeners making them shelf stable for extended lengths of time.

10.    Can children have Elderberry Syrup ?
Our Elderberry Syrup comes in two versions. One sweetened with Organic Agave Syrup, which can be given to children over 6 months of age, and one with Raw Unfiltered Honey which can be given to children over 12 months.


Should you wish to give our Elderberry Syrup with Raw Honey to a child younger than 12 months, we always recommend to consult your healthcare practitioner and to also do your own research and come to an informed decision.

11.    Can I take Elderberry Syrup if I am pregnant or breastfeeding ?
When it comes to pregnancy and breastfeeding there aren’t a lot of scientific studies done on Elderberry Syrup and pregnant & breastfeeding women, and therefore we are quite limited on what we can confirm in this regard. Many of our customers are pregnant/breastfeeding mums, however we always recommend checking with your doctor/midwife for further information and we also recommend that you do your own research to come to an informed decision.

12.    Where do you source your Elderberries from ?
We source our certified organic Elderberries from Eastern Europe. The elderberry plant is native to Europe, thus having the highest level of anthocyanins (medicinal benefits) when grown there.

13.    The syrup is thin. Shouldn’t it have a thicker consistency?
Our Elderberry Syrup is handcrafted using only the purest ingredients from nature and nothing more. There are no thickening agents, fillers or preservatives in the syrup. It was very important that we kept it as natural and healthy as possible to aid in your healing. Therefore, It will have more of a juice consistency.

14.    I am vegan, do you make syrup without raw honey?
Yes! We offer a Vegan version. This option contains the same ingredients as the regular syrup but it is sweetened with organic agave syrup instead of raw honey.

15.    Does this elderberry syrup interact with other medications?
If you are taking any medications or other herbal supplements, we advise to contact your physician or healthcare professional prior to using any new herbal supplement.
